Who it fits

People from about 4′9″ to 6′7″ tall. The seat goes from 16″ to 20.5″ high and slides from 15″ to 18″ deep: the seat height and depth that range needs. It’s rated for 300 lb, so it suits people up to about 240 lb with the 25% headroom we look for. With 4D armrests, self-adjusting lumbar support, and a sliding seat, it adjusts in every direction, which pays off if you sit 8 hours or more.

Who should look elsewhere

• If you’re shorter than 4′9″: the seat only goes down to 16″, and at 4′8″ you need about 14.5″, so your feet won’t rest flat.
• If you’re taller than 6′7″: the seat is 18″ deep at most, and at 6′8″ you want about 19.5″, so your thighs lose support.
• If you weigh more than about 240 lb, you want a higher weight rating. Try the Steelcase Gesture, rated for 400 lb.
