Who it fits

People from about 5′0″ to 6′0″ tall. The seat goes from 16″ to 20.5″ high and is 16″ deep: the seat height and depth that range needs. It’s rated for 350 lb, so it suits people up to about 280 lb with the 25% headroom we look for. With fixed armrests and built-in lumbar support, it adjusts less than most, so it suits shorter days better than long ones.

Who should look elsewhere

• If you’re shorter than 5′0″: the seat is 16″ deep at its shortest, and at 4′11″ you need 15″ or less, so the edge presses behind your knees. Try the Herman Miller Embody, which fits from 4′9″.
• If you’re taller than 6′0″: the seat is 16″ deep at most, and at 6′1″ you want about 17.5″, so your thighs lose support. Try the Steelcase Gesture, which fits up to 6′8″.
• If you weigh more than about 280 lb, you want a higher weight rating. Try the Steelcase Leap Plus, rated for 500 lb.
